Radiesse Lips Treatment
About Radiesse for Lips
Radiesse is a long-term, non-surgical lip augmentation method that lasts for approximately up to three years, making it an impressive approach for lip augmentation. Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxylapatite, a constituent of tooth and bone, and is formulated into microspheres suspended in an aqueous polysaccharide gel which has been FDA approved for soft tissue augmentation and other medical uses. This 10 minute treatment is reasonably comfortable, and offers no downtime with immediate results.

How Does it Work?
Radiesse comes in a small syringe, similar to collagen. It injected below the surface of the skin in the fatty layer, adding fullness lips, depressed scars, wrinkles and marionette lines or folds. Calcium hydroxylapatite creates a lattice scaffolding which supports the in-growth of soft tissue, resulting in tissue augmentation and enhancement.

Safety & Side Effects
In general, calcium hydroxylapatite has safely been used in the body for many applications including dental applications (where bone build-up is needed for reconstruction), as well as for cosmetic implant procedures for the chin, cheeks, and jaw areas. Radiesse is manufactured to be similar to the body’s own tissue, and thus there is no need for allergy testing. The specific risks and the suitability of these procedures for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally.
It is normal for some patients to experience some pinkness or swelling at the injection site, lasting 2 to 3 hours.
Does it Hurt?
Some individuals will require an anesthetic injection to prevent pain.
Before Treatment Instructions
You should tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, even over the counter medicines or treatments. If you are taking blood thinners or medications that may interfere with clotting of the blood, such as aspirin, motrin, advil, naprosyn, please stop if possible for 10-14 days prior to your treatment to reduce the chance of getting a bruise. Vitamin E also thins the blood, so we advise that you stop taking vitamin supplements containing vitamin E three days before your treatment.
