Dr. Aleda A. Longwell is a board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Longwell completed her dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas, with additional fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology, also from Baylor. While there she received the Resident Teaching Award, an honor elected by medical students for her passion to teach them both medical and surgical dermatology procedures. While serving patients in the medical center district, there were several opportunities for additional training in skin cancer and melanoma, through the MD Anderson hospital, which ultimately became a particular specialty and focus of Dr. Longwell’s continued surgical training. The staff at Baylor also taught at the surrounding hospitals including Ben Taub Community Hospital, Houston Methodist and pediatric rotations through Children’s memorial; all leading teaching tertiary care centers with advanced disease conditions. The diverse population of Houston also allowed for both superior teaching and learning opportunities of dermatologic conditions particularly in skin of color, where often disease states appear differently. In addition to a love of general dermatology and skin conditions, Dr. Longwell decided to pursue a surgical Mohs fellowship, to further refine her surgical technique and training, and because of her passion for helping to heal others from melanoma and other skin cancer diseases. During this fellowship, there was additional procedural training in a variety of laser treatments, including Fraxel, neuromodulators, and other fillers.

Dr. Longwell has a daily goal and a commitment to a team approach with her patients, and toward providing exceptional care and service to every patient she sees.

When off of work, Aleda loves spending time with her husband, her amazing 17 year-old twins, and her 90-lb lab, and the dog’s best friend: Newman the cat.
